Karen Sutter, 77, Minot, died Friday, December 31, 2021, in a Minot hospital.

Karen was born June 15, 1944, in Minot, ND to Leon and Marie (Ross) Beeter. She was educated in Minot Public Schools and was a graduate of the Minot High School Class of 1962.

Karen was united in marriage to Allen ‘Alley’ Sutter on June 18, 1965, in Minot, where they would make their lifelong home. This union was blessed with two children, five grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Karen spent her early working years at White Drug, Fannie Farmer, and as a teacher’s aide at Washington Elementary. On May 1, 1976, she alongside her husband started Alley’s Radiator and Repair in Minot.  They worked hand in hand for the next 28 years, retiring in 2004 as their son Stacy assumed operation of the business.

Karen’s biggest love in life was her family. They enjoyed camping trips in the summer months to Strawberry Lake, Lake Audubon and Lake Sakakawea evolving from tents to motorhomes and a cabin. She was an avid bowler in her active years and always looked forward to card nights with her sisters and many friends.

Karen will be remembered for her smile and sense of humor but missed so deeply by all who knew her as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Allen ‘Alley’ Sutter, Minot; daughter Karla (Russell) Thompson, Granville and son Stacy (Vickie) Sutter, Minot; grandchildren Hadley (Tate) Magilke, Denbigh, ND, Harleigh (Spencer) Adolphson, Spring Lake, NC, Ryder Thompson, Granville, ND, Logan Sutter and Megan Sutter, both of Minot; great-grandchildren Britt Magilke and baby Magilke in 2022; siblings Clint (Karen) Beeter, Logan, ND, Connie Anderson, rural Minot, Kathy (James) Tofteland, Minot, Donna (Barry) Schlosser, Logan, ND and Darla (Bill) Felber, Surrey, ND along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
