Myron Irwin, 82, Minot and formerly of Sawyer died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 in a Minot hospital.

Myron LeRoy Irwin was born on May 26, 1940 in Minot to Marvin “Red” and Esther (Klimpel) Irwin.  He was raised on a farm near Sawyer, attended country school and graduated from Sawyer High School in 1958.  He continued his education at a Minneapolis business college.  Myron enlisted in the United States Army on October 15, 1961 and was a member of Company B of the 164th Engineering Battalion at Fort Riley, Kansas prior to his honorable discharge on August 9, 1962. 

Myron was once married to Karen Roebuck. They were the parents of Craig and Nikki and made their home near Sawyer where they purchased his parents family farm. Myron was employed at Thorsrud Supply- Minot in 1961, then became manager of the business in 1972 and purchased the company in 1978.

Myron married Joan Gates on March 7, 2002 in Las Vegas. They made their home in Minot and in Sun Lakes, Arizona during the winter months. Myron retired in 2016.

Myron was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot Country Club later the Vardon Golf Club, Minot Gun Club, Minot State University Beaver Boosters as well as the Moose Lodge, Eagles Aerie and Elks Lodge.  He especially enjoyed golfing, hunting, playing cards, shaking dice, FOX News, TV Westerns, as well as watching the Minnesota Twins, and athletic events especially those involving his children and grandchildren.

Myron’s loving family includes his wife of 20 years: Joan; children: Craig (Dianne) Irwin of Fargo and Nikki Johnson of Devils Lake; stepchildren:  Desiree (Tim) Herzig and Andy (Michelle) Tallman all of Minot and Jenn (Steve) Willard of Kuttawa, KY; grandchildren: Alex (Mallory) Walter, Allison (Andrew) Bertsch, Ryan Walter, Tawny Irwin (Seth Buck), Blaze Irwin and Tylee Irwin, Kadyn, Grayson, Teegan and Emersyn Tallman and Addison Herzig; great grandchildren: Mya, Porter, Pierce (PJ), Allie, Asher, sister:  Maxiene (Loren) Kisner of Gig Harbor WA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Marlene “Molly” Benton and June “Bug” (Stephen) Martell along with numerous “Puppers” that he loved so dearly.  

Celebration of the Life of Myron Irwin:  Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church – Minot.  The Family encourages guests to wear bright colors in honor of Myron who we all know was not one to wear black and was quite flashy in his attire.  To view a livestream of the service access https://bethanylutheran.tv/ or https://bethanylutheranchurch58701.com/
Visitation:  Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Prayer Service:  Monday at 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Minot Junior Golf Association Inc. or Ducks Unlimited.
