Julie D. Quammen, 62, Minot, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Julie Diane was born March 5, 1960, in Minot, ND to James and Joan (Solberg) Simonson. She would call the ‘Magic City’ home for most of her life.

Julie was united in marriage on Valentine’s Day in 1986 to Hal Quammen. They made their home in Minot and were blessed with children and later grandchildren.

Julie dedicated twenty years of her life as a nutrition specialist for Minot Public Schools at Central Campus in downtown Minot until her health forced her to retire in spring 2021. Julie was a believer who attended Our Redeemer’s Church in Minot.

Julie and Hal enjoyed summertime fishing trips to the Van Hook Arm, where she always caught the biggest and likely the most fish as the legends are told. Julie was a homebody, with a contagious laugh, who treasured all times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Time in the flower garden, vacuuming her entire home daily, baking, or dominating in a game of candy crush were some of the best parts of her life that made her the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed deeply by all who were blessed to share in her life including her beloved dog, a shih tzu named Barkley.

Julie is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Hal Quammen, Minot; children Brent Fettig, Sawyer, ND and Haley (Brook) Hermanson, Minot, ND; grandchildren Liston and Madilyn; siblings Bruce (Nina) Simonson, Carriere, MS, Lori (John) Wagar, Bemidji, MN, and Reed (Tracy) Simonson, Belgrade, MT along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of Julie Quammen’s Life:  1:00 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2022, at Our Redeemer’s Church, Minot.
Interment:  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
Visitation:  Sunday, March 27, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
