Andrew “Andy” Gunderson, 88, longtime Berthold area farmer, died Friday, March 4, 2022, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.

Andy was born September 4, 1933, in Tolgen Township of Ward County, North Dakota, the son of Arvid and Adeline (Hagen) Gunderson. He was raised and educated in Lund Township, confirmed at Spring Valley Lutheran Church, and assisted his family with the operation of the family farmstead.

Andy married the love of his life Jeannette Myers on April 18, 1957, in Minot, ND. They made their home in Makoti for a short time and then Minot where he worked as a mechanic for several years. In 1965, they moved to the Otto Engen farm west of Berthold. Andy and Jeannette were blessed with three children: Sheleen “Shelly”, Debra “Debbie,” and Shane. In 1975, they moved to a farm south of Berthold, where they started farming and continued to live throughout the years. Shelly passed away July 18th, 1973 & Jeanette passed away on April 15, 2012. Andy was blessed to spend the remainder of his years living on the farm.

Throughout the years, Andy and Jeannette enjoyed traveling, raising children, and enjoying grandchildren, farming, and gardening. Andy was an avid hunter, trapper, gun and coin collector, and storyteller. Some of his many hunting stories include trips to Utah for an elk hunt, Alaska for fishing trips and his prized North Dakota moose tag at age 80. He loved hunting and fishing with his in laws, nephews, cousins, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Andy was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Minot, ND for 60+ years where he served as a board member. Throughout the years he actively served as a board member for the Ward County Farm Bureau and was a lifelong member of the NRA.

He loved attending sporting events wherever the games were played, including high school, college, and professional games especially the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Andy’s true joy was his faith, family, and farming. He will be remembered for faithfully reading his Bible and praying for all his family and friends.
