Raymond  Goldade, 90, Minot passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in a Minot nursing home.

Ray was born on September 29, 1931, in Selz, ND to Joseph and Magdalena (Vetter) Goldade. He attended school in Selz and like most farm families, he was an integral part of the farming operation during his youth.

Ray married Pauline Roerick on September 29, 1952, in Selz. They moved to Minot in 1953 and lived in the Bel Air neighborhood since 1969. Ray was employed at ND Concrete for 8 years and Orheim Construction for 4 years before starting his employment at Minot State University in the Maintenance/ Engineering Department where he worked for the next 26 years. Ray retired in 1994.

Ray cared for Pauline for many years through her Alzheimer’s, until she passed away on December 12, 2017. Ray became a resident of Trinity Homes on October 14th, 2021.

Ray was a member of St. John The Apostle Catholic Church, serving many years as an usher.  Also, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles Aerie, and Moose Lodge, all in Minot.

Ray was a hard worker, even enjoying concrete work and was always willing to shovel snow for the neighbors or help others with their home projects. He loved people and his community. Ray was an avid bowler and excellent dancer who entered many dance contests with his wife and won numerous trophies. He valued time in the outdoors fishing, camping, and was often found in his garden or listening to music on the patio. He loved to play musical instruments like the harmonica, guitar, and accordion. One of his favorite songs to play was “You Are My Sunshine”. He was a fierce card player and loved playing pinochle, marble board and trips to the casino with friends and family.

Ray loved and cherished his children and grandchildren. He was extremely proud of them and the fine adults that each had become. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and a cherished friend to all who knew him.

Ray is survived by his children: Allen (Karla) Goldade, Minot, ND, Connie (Patrick) Mehring, Minot, ND, Timothy Goldade (Myong), Minot, ND, Cathy Goldade, Climax, MN, Michelle (Jon) Hegre, Aurora, CO, and Paula (Brian) Belanger, Spokane, WA; grandchildren: Richard (Miranda) Botton, Carissa Botton (Mohsen), Cody Goldade, Callie Goldade, Ridge Stortroen, Jordan Hegre, Maddie Hegre, RJ Belanger, and Hunter Belanger; great-grandchild: Finnley Botton; siblings: Marie Heil, Harvey, ND, Barbara Martin, Harvey, ND, Vincent (Cheryl) Goldade, Grand Forks, ND, and Larry (Frances) Goldade, Grandin, ND and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Pauline, son: Jeffery, sisters: Katherine Klein and Lena Farstad; brothers: Rochus, Peter, William, Daniel, James, and Joseph Goldade and an infant brother: Jackie.

Vigil Prayer Service:  Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation:  Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Interment:  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND

Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
