Phyllis O’Brien

Phyllis Marie O’Brien, 65, Minot, died on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 in a Minot healthcare center.

Phyllis was born on June 13, 1956 at Willmar, MN, the daughter of Harold and Pearl (Hans) McIalwain in Willmar, MN. She moved with her family to Minot when she was in the 6th grade and graduated from Minot High School in 1974. She attended cosmetology school in Minot and was once married to Adrian Rock Byrge.

Phyllis continued to live in Minot throughout the years, where she was employed at Trinity Homes for several years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was united in marriage to William “Mickey” O’Brien on November 14, 2014 in Minot. She was a member of the Presbyterian faith.  He died November 5, 2020.

Phyllis enjoyed making jewelry, drawing pictures and cooking.

Her loving family includes, her son, Paul (Candace) Byrge of Medford, MN, 4 grandchildren to include: Kobe, Nathan, McKinlee & Connor; step-daughter, Lani (Jeff) Hartley, Mt Olive, AL; siblings, Sharon Cunningham of Minot, Michael McIalwain of Minot, Patty (Doug) Powell, Cheyenne, WY, Carol (Ron) Thomsen, Wichita, KS; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mickey.

At Phyllis’ request, there will not be a service at this time.
