Leroy then went to St. Philomena’s School, Newlon School and Sidney High School where he graduated in 1966. Continuing his education, he earned his Associate of Arts Degree from Dawson College Glendive and a Bachelor of Science from Montana State University Bozeman in 1970. After getting snowed in at Hawks Home School for two months, he decided to quit teaching and returned to his parents’ home near Sidney to feed sheep with his Mom and Dad. His father’s health declined and he passed away in November and they never did get to feed sheep together. He was active in the Montana Army National Guard for seven years, being honorable discharged as Sgt. Leroy wrote a lot of poetry in his early years. He worked with a construction crew for Tangler Bros. Crane for a short time and for Charlie Evanson in Sidney as a carpenter. Next he went to work for Compressor Pump and Engine in Sidney until National Machine bought out the shop. He continued to work for them until he, Robert Schieffer, Victor Gustafson and Bill Cundiff bought and ran the shop. Compressor Pump and Engine of Casper, WY later bought the shop and Leroy continued to work for them as a salesman covering Montana, North and South Dakota. He loved dealing with his customers. Leroy loved fishing, cooking, talking with his many friends and he especially loved all his nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Leroy got sick with his diabetes and went to Wibaux County Nursing Home until he recovered. In August 2015 through October 2018, Golden Valley Manor in Beach became his home until he fell and fractured his hip and was moved to his final home of St. Benedict’s Health in Dickinson in November 2018.
