Kory Kalamaha, 56, Minot, died Monday, May 22, 2023, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle and vehicle accident.

Kory was born August 30, 1966, in Minot, North Dakota to Raymond and Evelyn (Mathis) Kalamaha. He was educated at South Prairie and Minot Public Schools and graduated from Minot High School in 1985. After moving to Minnesota Kory worked for the family business and married (now former wife) Angie Dubbs. Their union was blessed by the birth of his only child, son Julian. He and Julian later returned home to live and work in Minot.

Many know and will remember Kory as a gifted craftsman, skilled with his hands to create and improve places and spaces in our physical world but he really shined at including the young ones, gently teaching them while he worked. Kory embodied the spirit of “the extra mile,” often literally, going beyond the bare minimums expected when he set out to help someone – driving longer distances, working no-charge for someone in need, or simply bringing flowers to surprise a lucky soul for a special occasion. He leaves a legacy beyond the earthly structures; an imprint of lasting care and beauty wherever, and with whomever, he labored. Kory will also be fondly remembered for his trademark and infectious laugh and for always calling dibs on the last piece of banana cream pie.

Kory is survived by his son Julian Kalamaha, 21, of Minot; mother Evelyn Kalamaha, Minot; siblings Kimberly Lochner, Howard Lake, MN, Kaleta Johnson, Lakewood, CO, and her children, Cotana, Kyatt, Keton and Canyon, Kevin (Karen Wolf) Kalamaha, Bismarck, ND and their children, Kadra and Kody, Kendal (Manya Gustafson) Kalamaha, Waverly, MN, and their children, Kastle and Kwynn, Kyle Kalamaha, Livingston, MN and Kipton (Nichole DeMars) Kalamaha, Deadwood, SD along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kory was preceded in death by his father Raymond Kalamaha.
