A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Church of St. Anne’s, Bismarck, ND. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. A Livestream of the Service will be available on the Bismarck Funeral Home Facebook page.
Visitation will be held Friday, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 PM.
Helen was born February 14, 1917 in Emmons County. Helen was one of 13 children born to Joseph and Margaret (Baumgartner) Hager. Helen married Martin Bachmeier on November 24, 1937 in Strasburg, North Dakota. They spent 67 wonderful years together until Martin passed away on August 13, 2005.
Helen was an amazing seamstress and was unbelievably talented with her hands and sewing machine. For many years she was employed as a seamstress at J C Penny, when the store was still located downtown Bismarck. There was never any waste in Helen’s house when it came to clothing or leftover material. Most of everyone she loved would usually receive a beautiful quilt or blanket that she made with her talents. Martin and Helen were grateful to have shared their life with her sister Carol Herner and her family. Helen was like a mother to Carol, and a Grandmother to her 3 children, David, Lisa, and Nancy. Her brother Joe and Katie Hager, and their four children Brenda, Linda, Joe, and Lori were also a very special part of their lives. She was proud to be a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Council 244 of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Strasburg, ND for 79 years.
Helen is survived by one sister, Irene Heidrich (Strasburg); and many, many, many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin; her parents, Joseph and Margaret; siblings, Katherine Welk, Julia Fiest, Mary Zacher, Barb Silbernagel, Alice Heidrich, Pius Hager, Andy Hager, Eddie Hager, Joe (Sunny) Hager, Carol Herner, and infant sister.
The recording of the service will be posted here.
