Judith Ann Swenson

September 15, 1945 ~ February 14, 2023

Loving her family, her pets, her home and Billings, Judy was able to spend most of her life doing just that. Over the last year she fought a courageous battle against cancer and on Valentine’s Day, she quietly succumbed, leaving us for a gentler place.

Judy was born on Sept. 15, 1945, in Billings, to John and Julia Petentler. She attended Senior High School and graduated at the top of her class from the University of Montana in Missoula with a triple master’s degree in math, English and psychology. After graduation Judy become a top-notch child psychologist and counseled youth for school district two. She loved her job and served the youth of Billings for 40 years before retiring.

Judy was an avid golfer, winning many state championships. Our favorite golfing memory of her was watching her hit golf balls from the bottom of the Rims to up and over the top.

Judy married Craig Swenson in 1968 and together they had three children. Her eldest being Heather followed by Megan and then the youngest and only son Todd. Our favorite memories are of the holidays & birthdays. Judy always made these special and larger than life with decorations, food & music. Judy adored her grandchildren, spoiling them at every opportunity.

Judy is survived by her children, Heather (Mark) Keyser, Megan (Troy) Stowe; Todd (Heidi) Swenson, her grandchildren Tyson and Lauren Keyser, Brayden Stowe (Haley Smith) and Nolan and Kyra Swenson.

Judy was preceded in death by her granddaughter – Mikayla Stowe, mother – Julia Petentler, father – John Petentler and her sister Mary Lee.
