Mildred Galvin, 99, Minot died on Monday, November 14, 2022 in her home with her loving family at her side.

Mildred Veronica was born on March 25, 1923 in Munich, ND to Simon and Margaret (Michels) Mittelholtz. She was raised and educated in Munich, ND; graduated from St. Francis Academy High School in Hankinson, ND and from St. Andrew’s School of Nursing in Bottineau, ND. As a young adult she was employed at St. Andrew’s Hospital.

Mildred married Joseph Galvin on January 21, 1950 in Bottineau. They made their home on the Galvin family farm near Maxbass for a short time prior to moving to Minot.  Mildred and Joe were the proud parents of eight children and Mildred was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. Joe died on July 22, 2006, and Mildred continued to reside at the family home in Minot for the rest of her life.                

Mildred was a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Maxbass, St. Leo’s and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Churches in Minot and Sacred Heart Chapel Notre Dame Academy/Our Lady Queen of the Prairies Catholic Church in Powers Lake and St Michael’s Church in Mandan.  Mildred loved cooking, baking, coffee time with the neighbors and especially visits from family and friends.  

Mildred’s loving family includes her children: Patrick (Sandi) Galvin of Minot, Diane (Arthur) Taylor of Helena, MT, Eileen Galvin of Minot, John (Julee) Galvin of Virden Manitoba, Thomas Galvin of Minot and Mary (Donald) Parlin of Upton, MA.  Mildred also leaves behind 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.   

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, infant daughter: Kathleen Cecelia, daughter: Mary Ann Robinson, great-grandson Travis Robinson, sisters: Winnie Bruers, Elverna Veitch, Mary Ann Auguste, Mickie Boltz, Cyrilla Piche, Mitzi Brenna and Ida Dobbs; brothers: Herman, Irwin, Archie and Elroy Mittelholtz and infant siblings:  Dorothy, Raymond and Clara.

Recitation of the Rosary:  Sunday, November 20, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Public Graveside Service:  Monday, November 21, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery – rural Maxbass, ND.
Public Visitation: Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 3pm to 5pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Graceland Cemetery Fund or Caring Edge Hospice.
