Sandra Kay (Stoller) Gonzales, 75, of Bismarck ND, passed away peacefully at the Baptist Health Care Center on Friday September 16, 2022.
The service for Sandra will be held in the spring, she would appreciate any memorials be sent to The Baptist Home or The Dream Center, located in Bismarck, ND.
Sandra attended Capital Commercial College to obtain her legal Secretarial Certificate and shortly after went to work for the City of Bismarck as a secretary for the City Auditor. Later on, Sandy was employed by Basin Electric and became the Administrative Assistant in the Dept. of Accounting and Finance. During this time, she enjoyed many trips to the Missouri Basin Power Project, which was being built in Wheatland, Wyoming. Sandy valued education which drove her to obtain her BA and Masters. Furthermore, she often joked that she would continue taking classes as long as she could.
In Sandy’s early years, she was proud to be President of the PTA for the new School, Jeanette Myhre, an avid member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Bismarck/Mandan Legal Secretaries Association, United Way Chairman, Member of Toastmasters, and a Volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Following her retirement from Basin Electric, after working many years in the business field, Sandra followed her passion and opened an at home daycare, which she ran for 10 years. She loved each and every one of the children she worked with, and often found fun new ways to keep them busy, including, but not limited to, reading books, arts and crafts, dancing, singing, and daily walks. Sandy often took her daycare kids to the Library, the Zoo and Dairy Queen- usually carting around 10-14 children. She loved all her littles, and they loved her.
Sandy never missed a single episode of Murder She Wrote and enjoyed spending her time reading any Stephen King novel she could get her hands on. We hope to always hear her singing along to her favorites, Mick Jagger and Kenny Rogers.
Sandy will be missed by her son, John Gonzales and his wife, Anessa (AZ); her daughter, Rebecca Gonzales and her husband, Allan Kowis (ID); her grandchildren, Andrew Gonzales, Amanda Swasinger, and husband, Adam Swasinger, Maverick Johnson, Geneva Gonzales, and great grandson, baby Swasinger- due in December. She will also be missed by her many sisters, Terri Stoller (Minneapolis, MN); Kathy Junghans and husband Bob Junghans (St. Paul, MN), Mickey Stoller Hoffer (Bismarck, ND), and Kim Paasch (Bismarck, ND), and a special aunt, Beverly (Aunt Pug) Tonander (Bismarck, ND); her godsons, Kent Reisenauer and Bradley Paasch, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and her special friends, Val Jungling and Stacy Bauer.
Along with the Angels in Heaven, she is greeted by her grandma, Catherine Werner; her parents, Ted and Marie Stoller; her late husband Philip Gonzales and many aunts and uncles. Sandy is also welcomed home by her two best furry companions, Dr. J and Ceaser, who she often spoiled with McDonald’s cheeseburgers.
Sandys family would like to thank the loving and compassionate care given to Sandy over the past seven years by the Baptist Home staff. Thank you to the Hospice of the Red River Valley for all your care and support.
Fly High Sandy, with love, your sisters.
