Melissa Ann ‘Cookie’ Cook, 72, Minot, died Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in her home.

Melissa Cook was born June 7, 1950, in Minot, North Dakota to Freemont and May (Jenson) Cook. She grew up and was educated in Velva and Minot. She moved to Minot in October 1987 and became a resident and client of the Minot Vocational Workshop, now Kalix.

Melissa was affectionately known as ‘Cookie’ to her home family and fellow coworkers and residents. She enjoyed coffee, rummage sales/flea markets, getting her nails done and was the queen of rummy. She was often found reading, doing latch work or finding the next available game of bingo.

Cookie was a member of the Second Story, Harmony Center, Surrey Senior’s and Minot’s Moose Lodge.

Cookie was faithful to God her entire life, attending church at Zion Lutheran, Vincent Methodist and Faith Lutheran Church, all of Minot. She often asked to be read scripture on pastoral visits and enjoyed listening to Christian music on the radio when she took trips in the car with her home care family.

Cookie was a light in everyone’s life and will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege to share in her life.

Cookie is survived by her loving home care family at Kalix along with her many friends and coworkers.

Cookie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Delores.
