Marvin Kankovsky

Marvin Kankovsky, 84, Rural Minot, died Monday, October 5, 2021 in his home.

Marvin was born April 4, 1937, at Minot, North Dakota the son of John and Stacia (Bonenko) Kankovsky. He was raised on the family farm near Max until he moved with his family to Minot in 1945. He received his education at Minot Model and entered into active-duty service with the U.S. Navy for a brief period until he received a medical discharge.

Marvin returned to North Dakota and worked construction jobs in the Minot area primarily as a carpenter at various missile silos and at the Minot Air Force Base. He had been employed for a time with both Mattson and Mackley Construction Companies locally.

He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Minot.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting throughout the years.

His family includes, brother, Robert of Minot and a sister, Shirley Phillips, Shreveport, LA.

Graveside service: Friday, October 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors accorded by the U.S Navy and Minot American Legion Post.
