Diane Lynn Benton, 74, Minot, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family and hospice.
Diane was born August 18, 1947 in Aurora, Illinois the daughter of Frank and Shirley (Pritchert) Meszaros. She was raised and educated in Illinois until she moved with her family to Phoenix, AZ area. She graduated from an Aurora, IL High School in 1965.
In 1969, she met her future husband, Richard Benton at a St Patrick’s Day Festival event at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona. They were united in marriage on August 15, 1969. While Richard was stationed with the U.S. Air Force, they lived in various places including, Glendale, AZ, Ft Walton Beach, FL, Tucson, AZ, Hahn, Germany and Minot, ND.
Richard retired in 1990 from active duty service and they made their home in Glendale, Arizona, where Diane helped to care for her elderly parents. They moved to Minot in 2000, where they lived until the flood of 2011. They returned to Glendale, AZ until 2020 when they returned to Minot to live closer to their daughter, Kathy.
Diane was a member of St Peter the Aleut Eastern Orthodox Church in Minot. Her hobbies and interests included: Listening to classical music, reading, anything horse-related, collecting Hummel figurines and stuffed bears, researching her Hungarian heritage, travelling, and an intense love for football, especially the Chicago Bears. Also later in life, watching her great nephews play hockey.
Her loving family includes, husband of 52 years, Richard Benton, Minot; daughter, Kathy Benton, Minot; grandson, Will Garrad, Minot and great granddaughter, Rainy Llewellyn, Minot; siblings, Kathy Schaffer and Butch (Linda) Meszaros, both of Phoenix, AZ; nephew Mike (Sophia) Combs and great-nephews Wyatt and Grant Combs, all of Phoenix, AZ, and Nancy Anne Crandal, Glendale, AZ, who was more like family than a best friend.
Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in St Peter the Aleut Eastern Orthodox Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
Visitation: Wednesday, August 25th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in St Peter’s Orthodox Church with a Trisagion Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Church.
