William Arthur “Billy” Hewitt, Jr., 50, Minot, died Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Minot, ND.
William was born April 11, 1975, to William Arthur, Sr. and Judith (Banks) Hewitt in Bitburg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany at the U.S. Air Force Base Hospital.
The family moved to Minot AFB when Billy was 7 years old and not long after they bought their farmstead in Glenburn, ND. Billy then graduated from Glenburn High School in 1993.
Throughout his adult years Billy worked several different jobs; Marketplace Foods, ING, Riddles Jewelry, Cash Wise Foods, and DECA Commissary. Billy enjoyed the retail side where he could talk and help so many others throughout his days.
Billy’s huge heart and contagious laugh are two of the biggest reasons he was easy to love. If you had the opportunity to know Billy, you knew everybody benefited from his humor; he was always known to pull out a joke at the right moment. He had a way of creating a funny moment that made you feel special just by sharing laughter with you. Most times you left Billy either realizing the joke was much funnier than it originally hit and or to later realize he remembered and put thought to the joke just for you as well.
Billy loved to be generous and caring, not only to those he loved but had a way of really making anyone around feel seen. He was constantly buying silly toys or games for his grandson, nieces, and nephews throughout the years and his gifts were the best gifts that just kept giving.
Billy was loved by so many and will be truly missed. He will live on through all the memories we cherish in our hearts. We celebrate God calling him home and rejoice knowing we will be reunited again. We pray your hearts and minds are flooded with all the smiles, laughs, and joy that was spread to each of us through him and his life.
Billy is survived by his son Brennan (Ashlee) Simard, Minot; grandson Caspian as well as one on the way; parents William and Judith Hewitt, Minot; sister Christina (Jody) Riggs, their daughter Emily Riggs and son Nicholas (Gracie) Riggs, their son Liam; and brother Peter (Emily) Hewitt, their son Warren Hewitt and daughter Lillian Hewitt.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Carla Baker Hewitt.
