Johnito ‘Jun’ Lauron

Johnito ‘Jun’ Lauron, Minot, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025, in an Irving, TX hospital.

Johnito was born November 25, 1967, in Cebu, Philippines to Sergio Y. and Fidela S. (Arcenal) Lauron. He was raised and educated in Cebu, completing his Bachelor of Science Degree with a specialization in Customs Administration from the University of Cebu.

Known by his friends as Jun, he worked a variety of jobs during his life that included a hotel attendant, materials logistics for a hospital, zoo attendant and most recently a CDL truckdriver.

Jun was united in marriage to Rosario Ponpon in their hometown of Daanbantayan on April 12, 1997. They made their home over the years in the Philippines and United Arab Emirates. In March of 2017, Jun moved with his family to the United States.

He took a position with Strata Corporation as a CDL driver.  He held this position until 2020 when a medical event caused him to suffer a brain injury.  Jun has courageously lived with this injury for the last five years doing his best to recover with the help of his family. Jun was awarded US Citizenship on April 23, 2025 in Irving, TX.

Jun was a member of Eagle’s Wings Community Fellowship Church, Minot.

Jun was so proud of his family, always putting them first and reminding his sons that they were his legacy. He was dependable, generous, kind and ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed singing karaoke and was blessed with a sense of humor, often sharing a joke with family and friends. He cut his own hair because there wasn’t a barber that ‘got’ his style. He deeply valued time spent with family and his friends.

Jun is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Rosario Lauron, Minot; sons Janvier (Diana) Lauron, Rockville, MD and Jethro (fiancé Mindee Boyce) Lauron, Minot, ND; mother Fidela Lauron, Philippines; siblings Renato Lauron, Ruben Lauron, Wilma Lauron – Anajas, Amelita Lauron – Yoon, Mercedita Lauron – Villegas, Charito Lauron – Reynera and Lizel Lauron, all of the Philippines along with numerous nieces and nephews.
