Pearl Arlene Tengesdal, 98, Minot, formerly of Maxbass, ND, went home to be with Jesus her Savior, Thursday, March 6, 2025.

Pearl was born May 6, 1926 in Eckman, ND, the daughter of Elmer and Mabel (Jackson) Halstead.  She was raised and educated near Maxbass.  Her walk with the Lord began when she gave her heart to the Lord Jesus as a young girl while listening to a preacher on the radio. She went to Sunday school at a neighbor’s home, where they were taught Bible stories. After her junior year of high school, she moved to Portland, Oregon, and worked for Shell Oil Company during World War II.  After 1 ½ years, she returned to Maxbass and graduated in 1945.  She furthered her education at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where she received a standard teaching certificate. She returned to Maxbass where she taught at two country schools in the area.

She met her husband, Nels Tengesdal, while attending adult Luther League.  They were united in marriage on November 26, 1948 at the Holden Lutheran Church near Maxbass.

They made their home on a farm in Brander Township.  It was here that they farmed, and brought up their six children.  Nels died on June 16, 1991.  She continued to live on the farm until she moved into the Unsong Assisted Living.

Pearl was a member of Betania Lutheran Church until it was closed.  She then transferred her membership to the English Lutheran Church in Maxbass.  She was a very loving and generous mom/grandma/gg who sacrificed her own time for family and others.  She enjoyed painting, quilting, knitting, baking (especially breads) along with canning and tending to her flowers.  She was very involved with overseas mission projects, church leadership, garden club and the local 4H club.

Her loving family includes, her children, Bonnie (Rodney) Brandt, Maxbass, Carter (Karla) Tengesdal, Maxbass, Jimmie (Kari Moen) Tengesdal, Minot, David (Carole) Tengesdal, Tioga, ND, Darol (Shelly) Tengesdal, Esko, MN and Bradley (Anna-Leena) Tengesdal, Minot; Grandchildren: Jeremy (Heather) Brandt, Jennifer (Kory) Nelson, Jessica (Rafal) Konik, Jacob (Jillian) Brandt; Katina (Jason) Miller, Kyle (Katie) Tengesdal, Kara (Kurt) Heninger, Kirsti (Dillon) Erikson; Mark (Anna) Tengesdal, Samuel Tengesdal; Khrista (Jeffrey) Collins, Kimber (Brandon) Jones, Micah (Lauren) Tengesdal, Matthew (Alexis) Tengesdal; Aleksander (Angela) Tengesdal, Isak (fiancé Maxine) Tengesdal, Jonas Tengesdal, and 42 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
