Royce Floberg

Royce Floberg, 84, Minot and formerly of Westhope died on Friday, October 11, 2024 in his home.

Royce Arvid Floberg was born on March 31, 1940 in Westhope, ND to Albert and Lillian (Foss) Floberg. He was raised and educated in Westhope and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1958, serving until his honorable discharge in June of 1961.  

Following Royce’s discharge he returned to northcentral North Dakota and was employed at the Minot Air Force Base (1962) and as an oil field worker (1963-1973).  Then, he began his career in building maintenance at: Westhope Nursing Home (1973-1979), Wolford High School (1979-1982), Flaxton School (1982-1985, Westhope School (1986-1987), Velva Nursing Home (1987-1991), International Inn (1992-1999) and Holiday Inn (1999-2004).

 Royce was retired from 2005-2008 prior to returning to work in the Records Department of the Minot Police Department (2008) and Minot Parking Authority (2009-2010) and Second Story Social Club for five years until his retirement in 2019. Most recently Royce had resided at the Milton Young Towers in Minot.

Royce especially enjoyed playing pool at the V.F.W., American Legion and Barley Pop.

Royce is survived by his siblings: Don Floberg of Minot and Joyce Floberg of Santa Fe TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Borghild and Gladys and brothers: Leonard, Marvin, Morris, Herman and Arlin.

Memorial Gathering: Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from noon until 2:00 p.m. with Military Honors at 2:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Interment will follow at the Westhope Cemetery.
