Myrna Jean Witty, 89, died Friday, September 6, 2024, at Bethany Retirement Living Center in Fargo, ND after a several years battle with Alzheimer’s.

Myrna was born August 24, 1935, in Lansford, ND, to Ernest and Dorothy (Richardson) Henricks.  She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Ralph Belisle.  She attended school in Lansford and later was a telephone operator in Minnesota and North Dakota.  

Myrna married Merlyn “Bud” Witty on August 11, 1961, in Minot, ND.  They made their home on a farm near Larson, ND.  They retired from farming in 1992 and moved to Minot in 1995.  They moved to Fargo in June 2013 to be closer to their children.  

Myrna was a member of Vincent Methodist Church in Minot and previously of Zion Lutheran Church near Noonan, ND.  Myrna was an excellent homemaker and farm wife.  She was a fantastic cook and always put out a big spread.  Her delicious donuts, often gifted in ice cream pails, were a beloved treat among many.  Myrna had a talent for crocheting, creating numerous beautiful afghans.  She treasured time spent with family and friends and found joy in listening to Bud play music with various bands, as well as visiting with the other band members’ wives.  

Myrna’s loving family includes children: Sheldon Witty and Julie (Mike) Severson, all of West Fargo, ND; brothers: Robert (Edna) Belisle, Buckeye, AZ and Richard (Linda) Belisle, Bismarck, ND; sisters-in-law: Carol Henricks, Minot, ND, Adelle Wissbrod, Noonan, ND, Darlene Diesch, Detroit Lakes, MN and Darla Dillabough, Coeur d’Alene, ID and several nieces, nephews and cousins.   

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Merlyn, brother, Jerry Henricks and brothers-in-law Loren Witty, Charles Wissbrod, Robert Dillabough and Stanley Diesch.

Celebration of Myrna Witty’s Life:  11:00 a.m. September 23, 2024, at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot, ND. To view a livestream of Myrna’s service access: https://www.vincentumc.com/watch
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service in the church.
Interment: South St. Olaf Cemetery, rural Larson, North Dakota
Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
