Severus “Luke” Lucas, 95, Bismarck ND, formerly of Harvey, ND died August 15, 2024. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Bismarck Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Kroger officiating. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A livestream of the service will be available on the Bismarck Funeral Home website.
Luke was born June 30, 1929 at home on the family farm near Harvey ND to Matt and Lydia (Hildabrand) Lucas. He married Alice Bentz in 1950.
He was employed by Red Owl Stores, Inc. until he purchased his own grocery store in Harvey named Luke’s Red Owl. He sold the store in 1975 and went to work for the North Dakota State Health Department where he was employed until his retirement in 1998. Luke was a long time member of the Methodist Churches in Harvey and Bismarck, member of the American Legion and Eagles Club of Harvey. He also resided at the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon for several years.
He is survived by two sons, Scott (Mary) Lucas of Minot, ND and Barry (Sandra) Lucas of Mandan, ND; one daughter, Debra (John) Tibor of Mandan, ND; one granddaughter, Jessica (Luis) Morales of Minnesota; two grandsons, Brent (Angela) Lucas of Bismarck, ND and Lucas Tibor (Fiancee Anessa) of South St. Paul, MN; three great-grandchildren, Eve Tooley of Minot, ND, Kalen and Ava Lucas of Bismarck, ND; one sister, Lydia Lucas of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law, Gerry Lucas of MN and Eldora (Steve) Marvin of Riverside, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Luke was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years; his parents; two grandsons, Rodney Lucas and Casey Lucas; one sister, Viola Dovre; two brothers, Aloys Lucas and Roy Lucas; sister-in-law, Lorraine Lucas.
