Ella Mae

Ella Mae Kolden, age 98, of LeSueur, MN and formerly of Roseglen, North Dakota, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Oak Terrace Senior Living in LeSueur, Minnesota. 

Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Roseglen, ND, on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11 a.m.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  A lunch will be served following the services.

Ella was born on July 13, 1925, in Amundsville Township, McLean County to Emil and Marie (Hanson) Forsman.  She attended country school and graduated from Plaza, N.D. High School.  She attended Minot Teachers College for a year and moved home to help raise her two brothers after her mother’s death.  She married Clifford Kolden on July 3, 1947, in Washburn, N.D. and they farmed in Roseglen Township for many years.  She helped her husband with farming, and it wasn’t uncommon to see her swathing, combining or hauling grain. Ella was active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid and helped organize the church annual Lutefisk Dinners, the local American Legion Auxiliary events and was Chairperson of the North Dakota Legion Auxiliary.  She was a member of the Busy Fingers Homemakers Club, volunteered at the Bible Camp, served as a Census taker and was a food chairperson for the 50th. Roseglen Anniversary Celebration. Ella enjoyed bowling league in Parshall and was an avid quilter, crocheter, seamstress and a wonderful cook and baker, known for her buns.  

Ella is survived by her Sons, Darrell (Jane) Kolden of LeSueur, MN, Robert (Kathy) Kolden of Mesa, AZ and Daughter, Cheryl (Joe) Magana of Las Vegas, NV.  Grandchildren, John, Karl (Rosemary), Grant (Anna), Lindsey, Kevin, Brian (Sierra) Kolden, Adam (Samantha) Steele, Christina (Michael) Salisbury and Alix (Kyle) Kopp and Great-Grandchildren, Ella, William, Joseph, Nels, Vivienne Kolden, Jaxon, Gunner and Piper Salisbury, Kennedi and Grayson Kopp. Also surviving is a Sister-in-law, Lorraine Forsman.

She is preceded in death by her Husband, Clifford in August 2007, infant twin Son, Dean, and Brothers Emil Jr. and Alfred Forsman.
