Frances Barnhardt, 90, of Bismarck passed away on her birthday, June 30, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 10:00am at Pro Cathedral of St. Mary’s. Burial will be held at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 4, from 4-6pm at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a rosary at 4:00pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Frances Barnhardt was born June 30, 1934 in Center, ND the daughter of Frank and Rose (Erhardt) Messer.
On October 25, 1954 she married John Frank Barnhardt in Center. They lived on his fathers farm until 1964 when they moved to Mandan. Frances spent her time at home taking care of their children. When her husband started working for MPN Enterprise Liberty Heights Mandan in 1969, she helped him. She also worked for Morton County Housing until they sold their house in 1986 and moved to Bismarck. Frances then enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Marylou Barnhardt (Andy Brand), Susan (Clayton) Arnold; son, James Barnhardt; grandchildren, Taylor Barnhardt, Brandy Barnhardt-Banken, Shaun Arnold, Melissa Arnold, Gracie Arnold, Stephen Arnold, John Arnold, Nathan Michael, Cameron Michael; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Meyhoff; son-in-law, Greg Michael; sister-in-law, Adeline Messer.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; an infant daughter; daughter, Jane Michael; sisters, Odelia Kuntz and Margaret Brown and brother Frank Messer.
