In Loving Memory of Shirley Larson

10/7/1941-3/26/2024

Shirley Larson, a fiercely independent woman with a heart of gold, left this world on March 26, 2024 at the age of 82. She passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with lung disease. Shirley’s departure leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and cherished her.

Born on October 7, 1941 in the home of her grandparents in Vang Township of Ward County near Ryder, ND, Shirley was a beacon of light to all who crossed her path. She possessed a unique knack for making friends, was a woman of strength, resilience, and boundless kindness. Her infectious laughter could brighten even the darkest of days, and her quick wit and love for jokes endeared her to most everyone she met.

Throughout her life, Shirley blazed her own trail. Following graduation from high school, she met and married Don Larson, together they enjoyed two sons, Jeffrey and Steven. Shirley found great joy in participating in activities at school while the boys were in elementary school.  As the boys grew up and went off to pursue their higher education, Shirley followed their lead and embarked on several career pursuits of her own.  She lived life on her own terms, fearlessly pursuing her passions and embracing the opportunities before her.  Over the course of her working career, she proudly represented the American Cancer Society and followed her passions for interior decorating and fashion merchandising which earned her several awards of excellence.

Shirley had a signature style and took great pride in presenting herself to the world.  She was rarely seen without the finishing touch of a hat, and you could never mistake Shirley’s favorite color; sparkle and sequins! Like her choice of attire, she radiated a sparkle in everything she did, bringing joy to the lives of those around her. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life were truly contagious.

Shirley had a special affinity for and found solace and joy in the company of her beloved cats. She showered them with endless affection and care, and they, in turn, provided her with companionship and comfort.

Shirley will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will forever live on in the cherished memories and laughter she leaves behind.

Shirley is survived by her Sons, Jeffrey Larson (Carrie Bush) and Steven (Jackie) Larson both of Minot; Grandchildren, Parker Bush (Josh Vannett) Fargo, ND, Taylor Best (Colten Haider) Minot, ND and Keenan Best, Berthold, ND; Sister Joyce Lovgren, Battle Lake, MN; Don Larson, Minot; several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Pearl Pollock.
