Dale Harlow Fisher, 87, Bismarck, formerly from Hazen and Halliday, passed away March 28, 2024.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 11:30 AM at the Bismarck Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Sayler officiating.  Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Bismarck Funeral Home from 5-7 pm and will continue one hour prior to the service.

Dale Fisher was born June 6, 1936, in Plaza, ND to George and Cora (Reum) Fisher.  He attended country school and graduated from Halliday High School with the class of 1955.

After high school graduation, Dale’s adventurous spirit sent him to California where he worked in an aircraft factory, in San Diego. Soon military life was calling. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 with most of that time stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia. The love of country life brought him back to North Dakota. There he met, fell in love with, and married, Corrine Wolf, on October 19, 1962. They spent 18 years farming and ranching with Dale’s parents near Halliday and raising their 3 children.  During that time, Dale also drove school bus.

Prior to marriage, Dale worked on oil rigs and again in later years. He was not afraid to take risks and work hard to reach goals he set for himself. The love of operating equipment gave him the courage to try coal mining as a final career. The family moved to Hazen and Dale went to work at Coteau. The work ethic he established on the farm and his feisty spirit were very noticeable during the 27 years he spent there, operating a dirt shovel most of those years. God was extremely good and allowed him to continue grain farming also.

Retirement called so that meant purchasing a John Deere Gator for a little excitement! Travelling to many destinations, scrapbooking, and making bandages for a hospital in Africa kept him busy. A move in location was made in 2018 to a Condo in Bismarck, due to Dale’s Parkinson’s Disease. Next and lastly, he spent almost 3 years of his life being pampered by the wonderful and caring staff at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center at the North Washington Location, near the Condo, so his wife could visit often. With God’s guidance Dale accomplished his goals & enjoyed life leaving many memories for his family to cherish.

He is survived by his loving wife, Corrine; daughters, Carol (Michael) Spodak and Cheryl (Don) Hampton; son, Darrell Fisher; granddaughters, Gizelle (Olly) Wray and Natalie (Mike) Babik; three great granddaughters, Lena, Penelope and Isobel Wray; sisters, Darlene (Loren) Bauman, Donna Frohlich, Georgia (Albert) Schulz; brothers, Alton (Edie) Fisher and Dennis (Brenda) Fisher; in laws, Donald (Marlys) Wolf, Donna (Alvin) Weidner and Dawn Wolf.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Fred Frohlich and Bruce Wolf.
