Oscar John Howard III, 22, of Ryder, passed away March 15, 2024, at his home.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the Old White Shield Complex. Burial to follow at the Bluestone Village Cemetery.
Wake Services will begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Old White Shield Complex.
Oscar was born on June 6, 2001, he was raised by his grandparents, Janet and Gary Slind. He attended school in White Shield. While in school he enjoyed participating in golf, he received an award for the most dedicated player. He began weightlifting while he was in school, he continued weightlifting throughout the years. Oscar was awarded the ND State record holder for 463 pounds in a powerlifting competition.
He enjoyed a good challenge whether it be Legos in his younger years or his computer skills. Oscar had built his own computer, multiple times, until it was to his liking.
Oscar has spent the past couple of years working for Myers’ Meats. While he was not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, being a great cook, and was an animal lover. He also enjoyed helping in the family construction business alongside Gary. He took care of the family place, he was very handy fixing things around the place.
Oscar is survived by his grandparents, Gary Slind, Arnie Grady, Raymond Grady, Margaret Grady, Christine Bluestone; siblings, James and Cierra; aunts, Angela Howard, Mari Anna Howard; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Oscar was preceded in death by his grandmother, Janet Grady-Slind; grandfather, Olin “Blacky” Howard; great-grandparents, Julia, Harry Grady; uncles, Wilbur Howard, Robert Grady.
