Geraldine “Sherry” Schiermeister, 68, Bismarck, passed away November 27, 2023. Memorial services will be on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home. The service will be livestreamed on the Bismarck Funeral Home website.
Sherry was born on May 7, 1955, in Edgeley, ND to Frank and Ann (Zahn) Jacobs. She was raised and educated in LaMoure, and West Fargo ND area and eventually obtained her GED. In May of 1973, Sherry was united in marriage to Steve Schiermeister. During their seven-year union three children were born to Steve and Sherry. Sherry held many jobs in her lifetime but eventually joined Garske Produce in the 1990’s and worked for them until her retirement in 2017.
Sherry enjoyed many things, but most important was spending time with her family. She believed in Sunday sit down dinners and made it a point to make sure this tradition was passed down to her children. She loved cooking with family and especially loved making homemade egg noodles with her daughter. She also was a woman that liked her sweets and there was never a shortage of Snickers, Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups or Dr. Pepper when visiting her home. She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan and faithfully watched them on TV dreaming one day to be able to see her beloved Twins play in person. She liked to play pool in her younger years and playing Tri-Ominos. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to many of their sporting events to include many wrestling matches, softball games and baseball games. Sherry also loved her summer road trips with her sisters, where it was not uncommon for them to get lost on occasion.
Sherry was a tough hard-working woman that loved deeply. She did it her way and always let her opinion be known but deep down she was a kind, softhearted gentle person. She was loved so dearly by many people and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Sherry is survived by her three children: Tracie Schiermeister (Andy), Chad Schiermeister (Jill) of Bismarck, ND and Scott Schiermeister, Hazelton, ND; grandchildren: Keeley, Jastin, and Tucker; brothers: Ken (Cari) Jacobs, West Fargo, ND, Jeff (Rhonda) Jacobs, Maricopa, AZ; sisters-in-law: Debb Jacobs, Bismarck, ND, JoAnne Jacobs, Moorehead, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ann Jacobs; siblings; Delaine Schultz, Ruth Maker, Bonnie Jacobs, Larry Jacobs, Ralph Jacobs, Charles Jacobs. sister-in-law Bev Jacobs, and brothers-in-law LaValle Schultz, and Glen Lere.
