Thomas Hayden Myers passed away on November 26, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
Tom was born in Zanesville, Ohio to Lafe and Hulda (Beazul) on January 1, 1925, the youngest of four. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Jeanne Werstler, on July 6th, 1946. Together they raised 3 children, Marcia, Douglas, and Robyn. They were married for 75 years.
As a young boy he developed a passion for flying which inspired him to pursue a career in aviation and the armed forces. He went on to achieve the rank of Lt Colonel in the United States Air Force. His career spanned over 26 years. During that time, he trained on and flew multiple aircraft, ending his time in the service flying nuclear armed B-52’s. That plane was his all-time favorite craft and defined the pilot that he was.
After retirement, Tom and Jeanne owned and operated a successful specialty toy store, The Toy Cellar, located in the Vintage 1870 in Napa Valley, California. After selling The Toy Cellar, they moved outside of Missoula, Montana where Tom designed, and hand built their dream home in the mountains. In 1999, they moved to Bismarck, North Dakota to be near family.
Tom is predeceased by his wife, Jeanne, his daughter Marcia Myers-Olson, his son Douglas Myers and infant grandson, Micah Olson.
He is survived by his daughter Robyn Myers, grandchildren Heather (Bryan) Erickson, Brynn (Brandon) Lang, Carie (Jeffery) Boychuk, Ryan (Alexis) Reynolds and five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions to be made to the ND Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
