David Wick

David Wick, 47, Minot, passed away on November 14, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his family and community.

David was born in Minot, on May 11, 1976 to parents Carlos and Esther (Cossette) Wick. His early years were spent in the Minot Public Schools system, and later Bishop Ryan High School, graduating in the class of 1994. While attending school, David spent much of his time on the basketball court, playing up through his senior year of high school. The highlight of David’s basketball career came in his senior year, when his Bishop Ryan Lions went on to win the Class B State Championship in 1994.

On August 15, 1997, David married the love of his life, Kristen Crowley. They later grew their family together with the births of their children: Corbin, Madelen, Owen, and Maxwell, whom were always the center of David’s life. In addition to his children, the family pets Daisy, Finley, and Arthas brought David joy and comfort.

David dedicated 16 years of his professional life to the Choice Hotels call center before transitioning to hotel management in Minot, where he served as manager at several different locations. Later, he contributed his skills and dedication to JM Test Systems, and, most recently, High Air Ground as the manager. His commitment to excellence earned him numerous awards throughout his career.

Beyond his professional achievements, David was a devoted family man. He found immense joy in coaching his children’s recreation, school, and travel basketball teams. David loved all of his players, treating each of them as if they were his own. His dedication to youth extended beyond the basketball court, as he was honored in 2011with the “Friend of the PTA” award by McKinley School.

David’s passion for sports extended into adulthood, as he played amateur basketball until 2000. After his playing years, he continued his passion for sports through following his favorite teams such as the UNC Tarheels, Minnesota Vikings, San Antonio Spurs, and Las Vegas Raiders. His competitive sports mind extended into a love for board games and video games with his children, where he always played to win.

Known for his warm heart and generous spirit, David cherished his friendships, none more so than with his best friend, Chris Summers. Whether enjoying movies, discussing weather events, or embarking on travels, David made every moment count, no matter whom he was with. David will be remembered most for his fatherly love, outgoing personality, and ability to form a bond with anyone who crossed his path.

David was preceded in death by: his maternal and paternal grandparents; mother-in-law Sharron Crowley, and numerous aunts and uncles.

David is survived by his loving wife, Kristen; children, Corbin Chamberlain, Madelen Rose, Owen Jaxson, and Maxwell Harrison Wick; siblings, Dennis Wick, Robbie Wick and Tanya (Brock) Harstad; parents, Carlos and Esther, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
