Luella Bowman, 103, Bismarck, passed away November 6, 2023, in a Bismarck care center. Funeral services will be on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service.
Luella was born on May 19, 1920, in Alamo, ND to Mikael and Anna (Johnson) Nelson. She graduated from Alamo High school and attended Augsburg College, receiving a B.A. in English and Library Sciences.
She taught English at Mazeppa, MN and Alamo, ND before moving to Bismarck as the Bismarck High School librarian.
On April 19, 1949, Luella was united in marriage to Robert K. Bowman.
Luella was a stay-at-home mother for her two children until 1961, when she began working as the librarian at the old Bismarck Junior High School. The next year she moved with the rest of the staff to the new Simle Junior High School. She retired in 1985.
Luella is survived by her daughter: Becky (Gil) Geiger, Center; son: Bryan, Bismarck; granddaughters: Christy (Danny) Schafer, Beth (Kent) Ronholdt, and grandson: Greg (Sammy) Geiger. She also has seven great grandchildren: Kittana Geiger, Kaydence Ronholdt, Candra Schafer, Kaliana Geiger, Kateryn Geiger, Caleb Schafer, and Ryker Ronholdt.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and three sisters.
