Jody V. Vollan, 52, went to heaven on October 19, 2023, at CHI St. Alexius Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Sunne Lutheran Church, rural Wilton, ND, on October 25, 2023, at 11:00am.
Jody Valentine Vollan was born on February 14, 1971, in Olympia, Washington, to David and Erna (Hoff) Vollan. Roxann, Wendy, David, Carrie and Rita (previous marriages) welcomed Jody to the family. The family moved to North Dakota. Living in Linton, Cando and settling in Washburn permanently. During this time Louise was born in 1973 and Barbara in 1977. At 3.5 years old it was discovered that Jody was deaf. She was able to hear with the assistance of a hearing aid. Jody was able to speak and learned some sign language. Jody began school in Minot, ND. She lived in different foster homes while attending school. Bus rides home on Friday and carpooling on Monday mornings became a normal occurrence for her. Jody graduated from Magic City Campus in 1990.
Jody was united in marriage to Dennis Hagen in 1991. In 1992 she welcomed Matthew Ray and in 1994 welcomed Rebecca Marie. They resided in Bismarck. In 2010, Jody married Jeffrey Wiest. They resided on Jeffrey’s family farm in rural Venturia, ND. They moved to Bismarck in 2019. Jeffrey was also deaf. Life was filled with activities within the deaf community and learning ASL.
Jody was a kind, caring and loving soul. She loved to give hugs. Jody made friends easily and had many lifelong friendships that still continue. She loved family get togethers and reunions. Jody loved to take pictures. She had a camera with her at all times. She was the family history buff. Loved to meet new people whether it was a new friends or relatives. Jody learned to crochet and made blankets for anyone who wanted one. Jody loved her family, children and grandchildren.
Jody will be greatly missed by her children Matthew (Talia) and Rebecca (Matt). Her siblings Roxann (Stuart), Wendy, David (Kelly) Carrie (Terry), Rita, Louise and Barb (Eric). Her mother Erna Bauer. Her grandchildren Eden Marquis, David, Nevaeh, Raven, Rowyn, Salem and Jupiter. Her best friend Jeffrey Wiest. Plus numerous nieces/nephews and great neices/nephews.
Jody is proceeded in death by her father David Vollan, stepfather Verlyn Bauer and niece Adrienne Louise and grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
