Jenny Metzner, 89, Mandan, passed away October 16, 2023, in Mandan. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
Jenny was born on November 23, 1933, to George and Margaret (Gerving) Schoonover in Ft. Rice, ND. She attended Beauty School in St Paul, MN. Jenny was the owner/operator of Jen’s Beauty Salon in Mandan, ND for almost 40 years.
Jenny was united in marriage to Bernie Metzner in Mandan on June 9, 1956, and shared their life together until Bernie’s death in 2007. Bernie and Jenny enjoyed their cabin at Brush Lake entertaining family and friends for many years. They also enjoyed traveling, which took them to Europe, Hawaii and several cruises to the Caribbean. Up until her stroke in 2018 she also enjoyed traveling with her friends, especially to the casinos.
Jenny is survived by her 3 daughters Elaine Joersz-Finch (Palm Desert, CA), Audrey Rebenitsch (Ft. Rice, ND) and Carol Bosch and her husband Tim (Bismarck, ND), 6 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren, her sister Arlene Bruggeman-Capelle and sister-in-law Fran Schoonover.
Jenny is preceded in death by her loving husband Bernie, her son Bernie Jr., Joshua Joersz (grandson), Emily Joersz (granddaughter), Dale Rebenitsch (son-in-law), Robert Finch (son-in-law), her 3 brothers Earl, Al and Glen Schoonover and 1 sister Lila Gress and her husband Tony Gress and Dale Bruggeman (nephew).
