Davin Eby Smith, 34, Minot, died Monday, October 9, 2023, in a Minot hospital.

Davin entered this world on August 11, 1989, in Minot, ND to Kevin Smith and Wenetta (Eby) Smith. He was raised and educated in Minot, attending Minot Public Schools. He completed his GED in Bismarck and attended a year of college at Minot State University. He also went to massage therapy school in Fargo, ND.

Davin was employed as a mechanical insulator at K&B Insulation alongside his best friend Jesse. After work, Jesse and his “Little Big Brother” Davin could always be seen together. Whether it was cruising around, fishing, jamming out on their guitars, or simply just seeking an adventure. Davin thoroughly enjoyed his past employment at Fiberglass Specialties, too.

Davin truly was an unparalleled human being. He was a protector, as loyal as they come, and incredibly caring. Davin knew that life could get busy, but that never stopped him from checking in on his loved ones.

Always the first to start a conversation, Davin knew how to enter a room. With a shake of his luscious locks, and the most exaggerated laugh one had ever heard, it was nearly impossible not to want to be around him. If you were lucky, you’d get wrapped in the most magnificent hug (probably his real reason for keeping his physique top notch)! His hugs would melt your worries away and fill you with comfort and love.

Davin’s unconventional view on the world nurtured his ability to create remarkable art that had so much meaning. The viewer could get lost in his art, amazed that he was able to manifest such intrigue with simply his hand and a paintbrush. Davin’s love for the arts didn’t stop at the easel, he also had a lifelong attachment to music. Any genre, any “phase”, Davin was sure to master it. His most memorable era was his approach to Emo. He was so influential, even his little sister Annaka, aka his “Shadow”, would try (and fail) at the edgy style.

We will always remember Davin for his many gifts, charisma, and massive heart. But what always stood out, was his spontaneity for something adventurous, as long as it made a memory with a loved one.

“God Bless”

Davin was preceded in death by his grandparents Wayne and Evonne Eby and Rodney Smith.

Davin is survived by his parents Wenetta (Mark) Eby Smith and Kevin (Charlotte Aberle) Smith, all of Minot; sister Annaka (Matt Miiller) Drouin, San Angelo, TX; niece Ellasyn Drouin; grandmother Mary Ann Smith, Minot; stepsister Shanai Smith, Tacoma, WA; close friend Jesse Lindquist, Minot and his children Isaiah, Noah and Gracie; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved bulldog Shiv.
