Joseph Martin Jordan was born September 13, 1939 in Dickinson, North Dakota to Valentine and Elizabeth (Kuntz) Jordan. He was raised on the family farm near Lefor, and graduated from Lefor High School in 1958. Joe enlisted in the United States Air Force and went to basic training in Lackland, Texas and was later stationed in England. It was there he met Audrey Truman. The couple was married August 4, 1962 in Lutterworth, England. To this union two children were born, Richard and Valerie. Throughout his time in the Air Force they were stationed in Arizona, Colorado and Germany. Joe retired from the Air Force in Colorado as a Master Sergeant. While in Colorado, Joe was instrumental in the establishment of Birth Right of Sterling. This organization is still active, and is one of Joe’s greatest achievements.
Joe’s main purpose in life was helping people. He enjoyed watching Trinity High School sports; especially football and basketball. Joe was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Eagles, St. Pius Verein, and membership coordinator for St. Anthony Club. Joe found great enjoyment in going to church and farming. His hobbies included: raising cattle, playing cards, shooting pool, genealogy, and spending time with his grandchildren.
As Joe would say, “Whatever you do, have fun with it.”
Joe is survived by wife, Audrey of Dickinson; son, Richard (Teresa) Jordan of Germantown, TN; daughter, Valerie Arriola of Dickinson; grandchildren Danielle Arriola of Burlington, ND and Anthony Arriola of Dickinson. Brothers, Roger (Mary) Jordan of Covington GA, Robert (Michelle) Jordan of Missoula, MT, Tony Jordan of Dickinson; sisters, Betty Heck of Missoula, MT, Mary Ann (Lauren) Wojahn of Dickinson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Elizabeth, brother-in-law, Ernie Heck, along with his English relatives.
Joe and his family would like to thank our community for their loving support during this time.
