Chad Franklin, 60, of Devils Lake, passed away peacefully at his home on September 18, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Roseglen, ND. Burial to follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 3:00-4:00 PM, at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison, ND.

Chad was born in Rolla, ND on August 3, 1963, to Sherman and Cheryl Hagen. After Sherman’s death, Chad was adopted by Marvin Franklin in 1970 when his mother remarried.

Chad graduated from North Shore High School in Makoti, ND in 1982. After high school, Chad attended a technical school in Minot before moving to Littleton, CO. There he worked as an apprentice meat cutter, before moving back to North Dakota in 1995.

After moving back to North Dakota Chad met Amy McCanna where they made their home in Rock Lake. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Emma and Evan, who were Chad’s pride and joy.

In 2006, Chad and Amy moved to Devils Lake where Chad worked briefly at Leonardo’s Noodle factory before starting his job at Nordic Fiberglass and also on a part-time basis at Lever’s Grocery store for many years. He worked at Nordic Fiberglass from 2007 up until his passing but it was more than a job for him, as his co-workers were like family to him.

Chad was an outdoor enthusiast including hunting, fishing, riding ATV and snowmobiling. The deer opener at the Franklin Homestead was always an annual highlight. He was also a lifetime member of the Makoti Thresher’s Association and loved to show his tractor at the annual show.

Most importantly, Chad enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his children.

Chad is survived by his children, Emma and Evan of Bismarck, ND; parents, Marvin and Cheryl of Roseglen, ND; two sisters, Rhonda (Randy) Kingsley of Fargo, ND, Marchell (Monte) Walker of Surrey, ND; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Chad was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Hagen; sister, Renell Suchor; and all of his grandparents.

Chad’s family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Chad’s name are preferred to Makoti Threshing Show, S Main St, Makoti, ND 58756.
