Dorothy Fix, 84, of Bismarck, passed away on September 9, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bismarck
Funeral Home with Rev. Kerry Stastny officiating. Burial will be held at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one
hour prior to the service.
Dorothy was born in New Leipzig, ND on January 10th, 1939 to Leonard and Helen (Friesz) Sandau. On June 9th, 1956 Dorothy married Ludwig (Louie) Fix.
Dorothy and Louie went on to have five children (Rene, Randy (died as an infant), Randall, Rhonda, and Russell). Until Louie passed away in 1996, he
and Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, traveling to casinos, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. In 2002, Dorothy met Richard Loghry
at bingo. They quickly bonded over their shared love of trips to the casino, playing cards and eventually, Dorothy’s family. Dorothy’s family is forever grateful for that fateful day at the bingo hall and for how lovingly he cared for Dorothy until his passing in 2019.
Dorothy’s true joy was spending as much time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as she possibly could. Her commitment to family made for an eventful and chaotic life and she loved every minute. There was never a shortage of school programs, sporting events, campground visits, fishing adventures, road trips, birthday celebrations, graduations and weddings to attend. Dorothy was a wonderful cook, and her home was frequently filled with family and friends who enjoyed her amazing German dishes and so much more.
Dorothy enjoyed trips to the casino, playing cards and Farkle, Bingo, doing Diamond Art (which she graciously gifted) and always having a full house.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children: Rene (Jeff) Kostelecky, Rhonda (Larry) Goetzfridt and Russell (Charity) Fix; her grandchildren: Brandy (Kevin) Banken, Lacey (Devin) Hintz, Oakley Fix (fiancée Andrew Carney), Sydney (Dan) Telehey, Maddi Goetzfridt, and Taylor and McCartney Fix; her great-grandchildren; Sawyer and Saydee Hintz, Naleela and Nova Carney and Hayes and Beckham Telehey; her bonus family Candace (Jeremy) Wetzel and their children Sierra and Skyler and Missy (Michael) Hoff and their children Lindsay, Breanna, Nicole and Katie and her furry, four-legged best friend Marley.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and husband, brothers Harry and Kenneth Sandau, children Randy and Randall, and special friend Richard Loghry.
