Fred Boger, 97, Minot, died September 8, 2023, in a Minot hospital.
Fred was born on December 28, 1925 to Samuel and Anna (Oster) Boger in Garrison, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Garrison through the tenth grade. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and returned to North Dakota upon his discharge in 1945.
In 1950, he was united in marriage to Ann Berdahl. Together they raised five children until Ann passed away in 1985.
Fred was employed at Bell Telephone, Minot Flour Co., and Main Electric. Fred was also employed by different companies in the construction of the Garrison dam. Fred joined his son, Tim, in ownership and the operation of Boger & Son in Minot in 1979 until Fred’s retirement in 1998.
Fred was a member of the Lutheran faith, Eagles Aerie, VFW, #714 Electrical Union, and the Moose Lodge in Minot. He enjoyed dancing to the music of the Big Band Era, watching bull riding and westerns. He would share stories with his family often about being an ice harvester and the bootlegging days.
Fred’s loving family includes his children: Daniel (Nikki) Boger, Mandan; Tim (Joni) Boger, Minot; Tammy (Robert) Zambrano, Texas; Fred Jr. (Kristen) Boger, Minot; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; daughter, Connie Lafferty, grandchildren; Justin Womack and Dani Rae Boger, his parents; brothers, Bud and James; and sister, Stella.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Visitation: One hour prior to the start of the service in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment will be held in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
