Ralph Llewellyn

Ralph Edgar Llewellyn, 79, Minot, died Wednesday, August 9, 2023 in a Minot Hospital surrounded by family.

Ralph was born February 8, 1944 at Minot, North Dakota the son of Orvis and Hazel (Ronk) Llewellyn. He was raised and educated at Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1963. During his younger years, he was employed with Minot Steam Laundry, the ND State Fairgrounds, Coca-Cola Bottling Company and the Empire Theatre.

He was once married to Carole Abernathey. From this union they had three children.

Ralph was united in marriage to Ramona “Mona” Larson on June 28, 1975.  They made their home in Minot and had three children. He was employed with Porter Brothers (later Gerdau) for 42 years until he retired in 2012. He later worked part time for Don Bessette as a courtesy driver and conversationalist until 2020. Mona passed on October 2, 2012.

After retiring, his greatest enjoyment came from time with his grandchildren. Being one that said his kids would always have it better than he did, he provided an excessive amount of treats and goodies to them.

His hobbies and interests included fishing, playing darts and playing cards. He was a former member of the Minot Elks Lodge #1089 and Minot Curling Club. He was a current member of the Dakota Cruisers.

His loving family includes, children, Ralph (Tami) Llewellyn, Fargo, ND, Melinda (Ward) Kostek, San Antonio, TX, and Heidi Llewellyn, Tim (Katie) Llewellyn, and Sarah (Kevin) Streitz all of Minot; 13 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Nate) Gray, Amber (Joshua) Carrion, Brittany (Aric) Schnase, Andrew Kostek, Macey (Patrick) Hanel, Paige Blanchard, Shawn Llewellyn, Kayla (Brody) Roskelley, Ryan Kostek, Kristian (Mallory Podoll) Streitz, Rhianne Kostek, Lanie Llewellyn, and Kialynn Streitz; 9 great grandchildren: Lillian, James, Marlee, Amelia, Avalynn, Ramona, Jacob, Hayz and Blake; sisters in law, nieces and nephews.   

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mona; son, Steven; grandsons Joel and Jason, brother, Albert and sisters, Oveida Ofsthun and Barbara Belgarde.

Liturgy of the Word Service: Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Monday, August 14th from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred to Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry.
