Tammy Schwab, 72, Bismarck, ND, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the Sanford Medical Hospital.  Memorial services will be on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Tamara (Tammy) Kay Schwab was born October 20, 1950, in Browns Valley, MN, to Lee and Betty Agnew. Tammy’s greatest passion was learning, and she loved attending school. The school recommended skipping 2nd grade, but she says she was glad she didn’t; otherwise, she would have missed a whole year out of the classroom. Tammy spent most of her childhood working and caring for her siblings Gerry, Larry, Scotty, and Terry. Tammy graduated from Moorhead High School in 1968. In the 5th grade, she told her teacher she wanted to be a lady wrestler, but later changed her mind to follow her dreams in healthcare. Her mother taught her the importance of getting a good education and a job for which she went to x-ray training, got a job as an x-ray technician, and worked in the healthcare field for over 40 years.

Tammy had two lovely children in 1971 and 1973, Joel and Cassie Rohrer. She married Louis (Louie) Schwab on August 25, 1989. Tammy emphasized the importance of spending quality time with her family. She loved to get together and have long talks and many laughs over a home-cooked meal. While the meal was cooking or any downtime, playing a game of cards was a must. She loved to go to the casino but never to win money, but to make memories with her annual trip to Deadwood with her friends or taking turns hitting the button with her family. Tammy was an avid traveler and a free spirit. She had the opportunity to travel the world and would bring home a little souvenir for her collection of adventures to commemorate. When she wasn’t in a car, plane, or train, she had adventures by reading a good book. She learned more, understood further, and loved deeper with every book she read.

Tammy was witty, smart, fearless, and independent. She loved without condition, always spoke her mind, and was a fantastic wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and most importantly, a friend.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Lee Agnew; her mother, Betty Agnew; her sister, Gerry Agnew; her brother, Scotty Agnew; and brother, Terry Agnew.

She is survived by her husband, Louie Schwab, her brother Larry Agnew; children Joel (Molly) Rohrer, Cassie (Doug) Lopez, step-children, Stacey (Todd) Ellingson, Paula Schwab, Shannon (Duane) Barnhardt, Jason Schwab; her 15 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

How lucky we are to have someone so hard to say goodbye. Tammy will be truly missed.
