Arleen Storm Garner, 94, passed away on July 21, 2023, at the Missouri Slope’s Washington Care Center in Bismarck, ND. A private family service will take place at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Arleen was born May 7, 1929 to Ernest and Frieda (Triebwasser) Storm in Douglas County, near Armour, South Dakota.  She attended the rural Storm School through grade 8, and Armour High School, Armour, South Dakota graduating in 1946.  She attended Springfield Teachers College in 1947 obtaining her Teachers Certificate. It was there she met her future husband, Tim Flavin Garner.  She taught the fall of 1948 at the Storm School. They were married on December 19, 1948, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Armour, South Dakota.

Tim was an IBEW Boilermaker and their married life led to many states:  Delaware, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Montana, South Dakota and North Dakota.  Settling in Hazen, ND in 1964.  The family were members of the English Lutheran Church, Hazen, ND.

Sewing was her hobby – baby clothes to wedding dresses and everything in between. In later years sewed quilt tops for Lutheran World Relief.  She also enjoyed cross stitch needle work.  At the age of 50 she found the sport of golf and loved every minute of it for the next 20 years.

Arleen is survived by her children; son, Steve (Barbara) Garner, Salem, SC; daughter Susan (Lowell) Reich, Chesterfield, MI; Grandchildren Jason (Danielle), Reich, Chelsea, MI and Jessica (Ivan) Galindo, Burien, WA; Jonathan Garner, Virginia Beach, VA; Jameson (Pamela) Garner, Christopher Garner all of Greenville, SC. Her Great Grandchildren: Reeves Garner, Bennett Garner, Owen Garner of Greer, SC and Jasper Reich, Juniper Reich, Timothy Reich of Chelsea, MI. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and their extended families.

She will be buried at the Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tim, her parents, Ernest and Frieda (Triebwasser) as well as all her siblings and their spouses.  Waldemar (Ethel) Storm, Norman (Harriet) Storm, LuEtta (Len) Boeker),Lyle (Yvonne) Storm and her nephew Randall Storm.
