Paul Berger, 68, Mandan ND passed away June 11, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home. For those unable to attend the service will be livestreamed on the Bismarck Funeral Home website. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary/vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home. The burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
Paul, the son of George and Rose (Berger) Berger was born on December 18, 1954. He grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Flasher High School in 1973. Paul enlisted in the Army in 1973 and was honorably discharged in 1976 after serving overseas. During his time in the service, he enjoyed extensive traveling throughout Europe. He married Helen (O’Brien) Seelye on September 17, 2011. Together they lived on a farm south of Mandan. He worked for BNSF Railroad retiring in July 2018 after 30 years of service. He was always involved in farming and ranching all of his life. He was happiest on his John Deere tractors and had a passion for farming and ranching while taking care of his livestock.
Paul is survived by his wife Helen; stepchildren, Duane (Kat) Seelye, Stacy (Steven) Newburgh, James (Sara) Seelye and David Seelye; eleven step grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Wilfred (Lynda) Berger, Vern Berger, Bernice (Sam) Johnson, Marietta (Terry) Neuberger and Connie Wetzel; his father in law Clarence O’Brien; his brothers and sisters in law, Janet (Bob) Ehresmann, Wanda (Mike) Cassidy, James O’Brien and Glenn (Denise) O’Brien; many nieces and nephews and his close friends Kyle (Rachell) Black.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Marlene Henning; his infant brother George Berger; his brothers in law Andrew Henning and Kurt Wetzel; his mother-in-law Lorraine O’Brien.
