Geraldine “Geri” (Goldade) Flaten, 65, Big Lake, MN and formerly of Minot passed away peacefully on December 19, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family.

Geri was preceded in death by her father: Leo Goldade. Surviving family members include Geri’s mother: Angie (Fix) Goldade; children:  Brandy (Todd) Couch and Ryan (Laura) Flaten; grandchildren: McKenzie, Warren, Trevor, Nolan, and Brianna; siblings: Ron (Cheryl) Goldade, Terry (Val) Goldade, Mark (Corky) Goldade, Dale (Lisa) Goldade and Les (Michelle) Goldade and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Geri was born on January 29, 1957 in Bismarck, ND and raised in Minot.  She graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in May of 1975.  She was united in marriage to her former husband Robert Flaten on May 20, 1977 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot.  They made their home in Parshall prior to relocating to St. Cloud, MN in 1988 where she was employed at Fingerhut and raised her family.  She returned to Minot in 2014 and was employed at Trinity Health System in their billing and business departments until she retired in 2021.  In retirement, she returned to the St. Cloud area to reside near her children in Big Lake, MN.

Geri was enduringly positive and always had a smile to share.  She was most happy when spending time with her family and friends.  Geri enjoyed playing games, reading, cooking, baking, spending time at family cabins and was always looking for the best bargain.  She was an animal lover.  Most recently her pets included Bella the cat and Chippy the chipmunk who Geri could feed out of her hand.  She also delighted in the other wildlife around her home including butterflies, deer and turkeys wandering through the yard and well- fed squirrels.  Geri enjoyed afternoon walks and was appreciative of all the flowers and plants in the warmth of the summer sun.  Her courage, perseverance and strength were admirable and have left their everlasting mark on everyone she touched.  Geri was well loved and left us with many amazing memories we will always cherish.
