Bonnie J. Elefson, 90, Bismarck, died on April 27, 2023, at Missouri Slope Care Center. She was born June 16, 1932, at Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of William & Martha (Hardman) Hines.

She married Richard “Dick” Elefson on June 16, 1950, at Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Bonnie made a career in the travel industry, traveled the world extensively, and was the first North Dakotan to fly the Concorde. She owned and operated her own travel agency, Bonnie’s World Travel.

Bonnie was very active in The Order of the Eastern Star, and the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. In the mid 60’s she and Dick helped found Liberty Assembly, I.O.R.G. at Independence Iowa. She received the Grand Cross of Color Degree from Rainbow. Her activities in Eastern Star included serving as Worthy Matron of Bismarck Chapter #11 several times and was elected as North Dakota’s Centennial Worthy Grand Matron. Bonnie was also awarded Life Membership in the Order of the Eastern Star by Bismarck Chapter.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Skip (Richard Jr.); four grandchildren, Stephanie, Timothy, Matthew, and Nathan; two great-grandchildren, Jesse Lee and Brody; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will be together with her father and husband at Sterling Cemetery.
