Minnie (Haider) Schmidt, age 95, of Bismarck, ND peacefully passed away, with family and hospice by her side, on April 30th, 2023.  Minnie Schmidt was born August 19, 1927, in St. Anthony, ND, the daughter of Joe and Anna (Leingang) Haider. Minnie was raised and completed school in St. Anthony, ND. Minnie was the third of nine children with two sisters and six brothers.

Minnie married Victor Schmidt at St. Anthony, ND October 12, 1948.  They moved to Fallon, ND and farmed for 42 years. Their family won the Morton County Soil Conservation District award in 1962.  They also won the Knights of Columbus Family of the Year Award in 1989, which they were both proud of.  In 1992, they retired and moved to Bismarck, ND.

Minnie’s children were the center of her life. She was a wonderful gardener, canner, cook, baker, enjoyed sewing for all her family, and took pride in keeping her home and yard organized and clean.  Minnie enjoyed doing crafts, decorating cakes, quilting, embroidering dish towels, crocheting, and making afghans for all her grandchildren. Minnie had a love for all animals and worked hard milking cows, raising chickens, cows, pigs, and geese. Minnie loved to go on Sunday drives to visit family and friends, playing cards, and dancing.

Minnie, starting in 1992, volunteered at St. Alexius hospital for twenty-five years delivering flowers to patients. She really enjoyed it as she had a passion for helping and visiting people.

Minnie and Victor had four sons and four daughters.  Minnie is survived by her children: Allen (Lorraine) Beulah; Marvin (Jody)Solen; Vicky (Matt) Pennsylvania; Chuck Flasher; Joan (Mark) Kentucky; Julie (Rich) Minnesota; Susan (Kirk) Wisconsin; and daughter-in-law Lynn Wyoming. Minnie has 12 grandchildren: Jasmine (Matt); Jorie; Jared; Kylie; Kolby; Brian (Delora); Mike (Jessica); Lori (Albie); Jason (Christina); Ryan (AnnMarie); Travis (Hayley); and Tracy (Logan).  Minnie had 18 great grandchildren: Natalia; Jazlyn; Levi; Mariah; Shane; Wyatt; Emily; Emma; Vivian; Maria; Jed; Hazel; Casen; Crew; Ryker; Cadence; Beckett; and Gus. Minnie is also survived by her brothers Dennis and Arnie Haider.

Minnie is preceded in death by her husband Victor and son Gary along with her parents Joe and Anna Haider, four brothers John, Joseph, George, Hubert, and two sisters Rose and Lillian.

A memorial service will be held on Monday June 26, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home

Minnie wished to be cremated and will be buried with her husband and son at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan ND.
