Shirley Rath, 75, of Bismarck, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on April 26, 2023.

A Memorial Service will be held at Tuttle United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 4th, 2023, at 10:30 AM in Tuttle, ND. The burial will be at Tuttle Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.

Shirley was born on February 25, 1948, to Alvin and Edna (Lennick) Schultz in Billings, MT. They then moved to Steele, ND, and lived on a farm between Steele and Tuttle. She graduated from Steele High School in 1966.

On October 12, 1968, she married Gerald “Jerry” Rath.  Together they lived on the family farm in Tuttle, ND where they farmed and raised cattle.   Jerry passed away in 2005 and Shirly moved to Bismarck in 2012.

Shirley was very proud of her family and loved her grandchildren dearly. Going to their activities brought Shirley great joy, she was their number one fan and went to as many activities as she could. Shirley’s favorite hobby was baking. She loved baking for her family. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. She was very active in her church in Tuttle. She was a youth leader for many years among many other things. She had a great faith and loved the Lord dearly. Shirley was a very giving and kind person, the love she showed her family and friends will live on as we continue to cherish all our fond memories of her.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Michelle (Rick) Schock and Robert Rath; eight grandchildren, Krysta (Michael) Wishek, Emilee Rath, Braydin Rath, Aliya Schock, Payge Schock, Peyton Schock, Landyn Rath, Braelyn Rath; great grandson, Camden Wishek; sisters, Donna (Russ) Folmer and Gloria (Larry) Rott; brothers, Jim Schultz, Dave (Brenda) Schultz, Jerry Schultz, Tom (Becky) Schultz, Kenny (Brenda) Schultz, and Jack (Jan) Schultz; her beloved kitty, Mocha; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents, Alvin and Edna Schultz; in-laws, Reuben and Albina Rath, and brother-in-law Leonard Rath.
