Alvin Allen Schrenk, of Bismarck, was born on March 10, 1939, to Emanuel and Pauline (Fuehrer) Schrenk in Bismarck, ND.
Alvin Attended Bismarck Public Schools and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1957. While in high school, he served with the North Dakota Civil Air Patrol and Army National Guard from 1955-1957.
In 1957, he Enlisted with the US Air Force, and served with the Alaskan Air Command and supported the strategic command.
Alvin was a fire protection specialist and served with the air defiance command. He was also a Cold War and Vietnam Era Veteran.
Upon returning to Bismarck in 1961, he attended Bismarck Junior College for several years.
In 1964, he moved to Chicago, IL and served with the University Christian Fellowship National Headquarters until 1965.
Over the years he held numerous jobs, among them were Western Area Power Administration, Kirschman Manufacturing, Olney’s Office Outfitters, Ace Hardware, Coast-To-Coast Hardware, and the Sweetheart Bakery.
His last employment was with the State Historical Society of North Dakota at the ND Heritage Center in Bismarck until 2008.
Al enjoyed going to the Rainbow Shop, Barnes & Noble and teaching people about Christ. Al was a man of God and a proud Veteran.
Alvin is survived by his sister-in-law JoAnn Schrenk, Nephew Jay Schrenk (Jeanette), Nieces; Janette Walker (Alan), Sandra Laczynski (David), and Julie Baltzell, and several nieces and nephews.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Brother, Albert Schrenk, and sister Nyla (Schrenk) Graham.
Alvin’s family would like to thank two of his best friends for their friendship and exceptional care throughout these many years, John Doone & Rick Collin.
A burial will take place at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
