Evelyn Jane Mau, 95, Minot, formerly of Mohall, died Sunday, April 16, 2023 in a Minot Assisted Living Center surrounded by her loving family and hospice.
Evelyn was born February 4, 1928 in Grigston, Kansas, the daughter of George and Leta (Huling) See. She was raised and educated at Manning, Kansas and Boulder, Co and graduated from Boulder High School in 1945. She attended Radio School in Nebraska for a year, before returning to Denver where she was employed at the Gates Rubber Company.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Frederick “Fred” Mau on December 5, 1946 at Denver. They lived in Denver for a short time prior to moving to a farmstead in Brandon Township of Renville County near Mohall. It was here that they raised their four children and grew small grains.
They moved into Mohall in 1963, where Fred began employment at the Post Office and Farmers Union Company. They continued to live in Mohall until building a home at Mouse River Park. They moved to The View of Minot in 2009. Fred died in August of 2010. Evelyn had continued to live at The View, where she received wonderful care from the staff and made many wonderful friends throughout the years.
Evelyn was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall, the Renville County Social Service Board, Brandon Busy Bees Homemaker’s Club, and had served as a past president of the Mohall American Legion Auxiliary. She was a current member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. Evelyn enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing cards or board games, along with reading and spending time with her family.
Her loving family includes, her 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Rodney (Jean) Mau, Williston, ND and children Jacob and Taylor; Linda (Mark) Hildahl, Minot and children Jen (Jeremy) Drees, and Michael (Mackenzie) Hildahl; Les (Cindy) Mau, Alexandria, MN and children Lindsay (Nathanael) Auran; Lacy (Cory) McDowell; David (Laura) Mau, and Joey Mau and fiancé Akeysha Plumley; Bob (Kathy) Mau, Minot and children Cass (Andy) Thorson, Brekka (Jason) Greff, Erin (Chris) Greenberg and Andy (Denise) Mau; sister Kathryn (Randy) Williamson, Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 63 years, Fred; sister, Velma and a brother, Harold.
There will be a Private Family service.
All friends of Evelyn and the family are invited to a public Celebration of Life service: Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dining Room of The View.
Interment: McKinney Cemetery, rural Mohall
Visitation: Tuesday, April 18th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants, donations are preferred to the Mohall Ambulance Service, McKinney Cemetery Association or to a special fund in her name for a memorial to Evelyn and Fred at the View in Minot.
