Jackie was raised and educated in Pipestone, MN, where she graduated high school in 1950. She moved to Sioux City, IA where she worked and babysat for her nephew/godson. After that she moved to Wichita, KS where she met and married Airforce SSgt. Donald C. Duerre on October 10, 1953.

They moved to Dickinson in 1959 where they raised their two children. Jackie worked for the Dickinson Credit Bureau and over 30 years at Queen City Motors – Honda West.

Jackie’s life was centered around her family, church, and good friends. She loved bowling, fishing, baking, gardening (roses), crafting, playing cards & board games, and watching baseball and football. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Jackie always remembered friends’ and families’ birthdays and anniversaries and loved sending cards.

There was really nothing Jackie was not game for. In 1967 and 1968 the Duerres went to Africa to live in the African village of Namushakende, Zambia on the Zambezi River; road camels in Egypt; as a family of four, they journeyed down the Yellowstone River from Montana to Williston in a small shallow boat with only camping gear and food; and attended any and all grandchildren’s activities when possible.

Jackie was always very active in her church with Miriam Circle doing bake sales and bazaars, the Dickinson Lions Club and the Red Hat Society, as well as women’s and couple’s bowling teams. Jackie was a strong. caring, proud, and independent lady. She fought valiantly to stay in her home of 60 years but health issues forced her to assisted living in 2019.
