Winnifred “Winny” Leverson, 92, of Bismarck, passed away on March 10, 2023, surrounded by her family at CHI St. Alexius, Bismarck.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
Winny was born to Walter and Tillie (Larson) Thompson on May 21, 1930 in Clifford, North Dakota.
On June 19, 1948, she married the love of her life, Vernon Leverson in Fargo, ND. They made their home in Hillsboro, ND on the family farm. Nineteen years later they moved their family to Bismarck, ND, where she was the co-owner of Bonanza Sirloin Pit.
Winny enjoyed traveling to many places, especially Florida and Las Vegas. During the summers, the Leversons made many great memories at their Brush Lake cabin, fishing and being with friends and loved ones. In the more recent years, Winny loved to spend time at her daughter Tami and son-in-law Brian’s cabin on Lake Isabel. She never missed a pontoon ride surrounded by her kids and grandkids.
Winny was a fun, loving mom and grandma whose smile will always be remembered and whose hugs will be missed. She was loved by all who knew her.
Winny will be deeply missed by her daughters, Sandy (Tim) Wright and Tami (Brian) Scherr; son, Dan Leverson; ten grandchildren, Mike (Cindy) Wright, Lori (Chad) Kitzberger Darren (Jenny) Wright, Carrie Edenborg, Cory (Krista) Wright, Craig Leverson, Jacey (Luke) Graner, Deidra (Tyler) Engesser, Dani (Taylor) Volk, and Tyler Scherr; 27 great grandchildren who loved her much and will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; daughter, Kathy Leverson; and grandson, Chad Leverson.
A special thanks to her nurse, Justin at CHI St. Alexius for his loving ways with Miss Winny, as he called her.
