Ella Schuler, 100, passed away on March 6, 2023.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, at 1:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

She was born October 25, 1922 to Gottlieb and Dorothea Stehr on a farm southwest of Edgeley, ND.

Ella went to school through the eighth grade, worked on the farm, then as a waitress until she enrolled in Christie’s Beauty School in Bismarck.

She met and married Herbert Schuler in 1949. They farmed for a few years until they bought a dump truck and went into business for themselves. This business later became Herb Schuler & Sons.

Ella was a wife, mom, cook, housekeeper, nurse, gardener, chauffeur, receptionist, bookkeeper, and babysitter, and worked side by side with Herb to make the business successful.

Herb passed away in 2004, and in 2017 she sold her home and moved into assisted living. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, playing Skip-Bo and spending time with her family.

Ella is survived by her daughter, Linda Schuler (Delmer Schlenker), two sons, Richard Schuler and Gary Schuler, one daughter-in-law, Mary Schuler, all of Bismarck, along with seven grandchildren: Kelly Schuler, Sheri Schuler, Janel (Kasey) Welch, Jennifer Schuler (Andrew Amundson), Casey (Dani) Schuler, Morgan Schuler (Kelly Elton), Lilly Schuler (Tessa Charboneau), and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Schuler, one son, Harold Schuler, one sister, Anna Stehr and five brothers, Robert Stehr, William Stehr, Herbert Stehr, Elmer Stehr and Oscar Stehr.

The family thanks Missouri Slope Assisted Living and the staff of St. A’s 4th floor SW for their excellent care.

A livestream of the service will be posted here.
